Donate Life
Wisconsin, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated
to saving lives and improving the quality of life through
organ, tissue and eye donation. Our mission is to inspire
the people of Wisconsin to save and enhance lives through
donation and transplantation.
Members meet throughout the year to organize awareness and
outreach events designed to improve the public's knowledge
and understanding of donation. Our goal is to increase the
number of people in Wisconsin who say yes to donation.
Donate Life Wisconsin membership includes Wisconsin's
Organ Procurement Organizations as well as the eye bank
and tissue banks.
What is an Organ Procurement Organization (OPO)?
Organ procurement organizations are organizations that
recover solid organs for transplantation. These organs
include: heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, pancreas and
intestines. In the state of Wisconsin there are two OPO's:
The University of Wisconsin OPO and Wisconsin Donor
Network. The demographic areas that they service are
designated by the federal government. OPO's are dedicated
to educating health care professionals and the community
on the critical need for organ donation. Their continual
goal is to increase organ donation by building
relationships and advancing the field of organ recovery.
Please visit their web sites to understand their service
areas and for more information.
