DAVE MAGARITY: How many resumes did you receive after you were named the head coach?

BEN HOWLAND: Dave, I probably received around 150 resumes after I was named UCLA's head coach.

MAGARITY: What is the first thing you did after you accepted the job?

HOWLAND: After everything was finalized, I went out and celebrated with my family. I am sure you know the feeling.

MAGARITY: Is it safe to say that this has been your most hectic off-season?

HOWLAND: Yes, I would say this has been my most hectic off-season. Prior to this, it was the off-season before my first year at Pittsburgh. At major programs like UCLA and Pittsburgh, it takes time to change things. Time to get your program up and running, the way you wants things done.

MAGARITY: Now for a real important question; Is Kerry Keating working harder on recruiting or working harder on his wardrobe?

HOWLAND: (laughing) I'll tell you what, if he's not working harder at recruiting, he'll be looking for another job.

MAGARITY: Let me take you back to your youth. What was the worst Halloween costume you ever wore as a kid?

HOWLAND: Without question, Zorro, when I was seven years old.
